Come To Me (O Come Let Us Adore Him)

Josh & Kiley Edington, Katie Peslis, Cole Grubbs

I am the Lord your God, I go before you now
I stand beside you, I'm all around you
Though you feel I'm far away, I'm closer than your breath
I am with you, more than you know

I am the Lord your peace, no evil will conquer you
Steady now your heart and mind, come into My rest
Oh, let your faith arise, lift up your weary head
I am with you wherever you go

Come to Me, I'm all you need.
Come to Me, I'm your everything
Come to Me, I'm all you need.
Come to Me, I'm your everything

I am your anchor, in the wind and the waves
I am your steadfast, so don't be afraid
Though your heart and flesh may fail you, I'm your faithful strength
I am with you wherever you go

Come to Me, I'm all you need.
Come to Me, I'm your everything
Come to Me, I'm all you need.
Come to Me, I'm your everything

Don't look to the right or to the left but keep your eyes on Me
You will not be shaken, you will not be moved ooh
I am the hand to hold, I am the truth, I am the way
Just come to Me, come to Me, cause I'm all that you need

Hope for Peace

Are you tired? … I know I am.
Searching for rest? ... I sought rest today, and without surprise, I found it as soon as I looked for it.

I know I have many things that I'm looking forward to in the days ahead ... last days of classes; ministry opportunities in Ottawa; a quick trip to Calgary to see family, friends and Vince; the start of my last semester at CFOT.  The list could go on ... but it's simply that - a list. This is not a list that I want to consume me.

At this start of Advent I am reminded yet again that there is so much more that I can look forward to. The lists of life can become overwhelming but if we cover those lists with LOVE we’ll find Peace. Our Peace can be found in the LOVE of God, through His Incarnate Son.

Rest in the Truth … as you journey through Advent.

This is Love / Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
Heaven's splendor left behind,

The King of glory born to die.
God and man to reconcile,
You came to offer up Your life.

This is love, this is love,

Incarnate King, begotten Son.

This is love, this is love,

You choose to make your home in us.

Worship fell that holy night,

Angel voices filled the sky.

Lowly shepherds raised their eyes,

Following the star so bright.

This is love, this is love,

Incarnate King, begotten Son.

This is love, this is love,

You choose to make your home in us.

Come thou long expected Jesus,

Born to set Thy people free.
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our peace in Thee.

This is love, this is love,

Incarnate King, begotten Son.

This is love, this is love,

You choose to make your home in us.

festive Friday

Well, it was a great day in ministry. Taking care of 'business' at DHQ and sharing in conversation on spiritual (growth) things.
And to end off the day I was able to join with most of the officers on the Island and share in their Christmas Fellowship dinner. Again, such a joy to be with them all ... a big thank you to them for being a huge part of my learning experience during my 'winter assignment'.

a little bit of Christmas

It was a busy today in the Army world on the Island. Hamper distribution day ... I was at the main distribution center which happened to be at the Botanical Gardens. Many people coming through to get their bag of groceries, a gift certificate, a turkey/chicken, and toys for children. Quite a team ... and might I add - a winning team!

St. George's

I ventured to the 'other end' of the Island today and shadowed the Broome's in the ministry in St. George's. Before I went too far, Major Dan and I (with the assistance of Major Bruce) went to the Hospital and had a chapel for some of the patients there.

By around lunch time we made it to the Kings Square of St. George's ... where we saw the Town Crier at the ducking stool doing his little demonstration thing ... It just so happens that the corps has a Kettle in the Town Square as well! So, no worries - I wasn't being a 'complete' tourist (it was just all good timing for the day!).
In the afternoon I helped in their preparations for the Christmas Hamper distribution tomorrow.

During the evening we trekked down to 'The Caring Place' where they serve a free meal to those that want it, it is at another local church and volunteers are from the various churches in the area.
When we finished there a trio of us took instruments and played a few carols outside a home of a corps folk.
All in all, yet another great day!
