catch up
I left off at the end of October where it found me getting a whack load of pictures for the KCC website. Which helps explain some of my lack of attention to this wee spot. I'm not only gathering images for it I'm actually in the process of building it. I'll share it with you once we've launched it. And if you haven't figured it out KCC is the nick-name we have for Kitchener Community Church. The Salvation Army Corps that Scott & I attend.
Halloween evening found me on a plane and heading to ... you guessed it ... Cowtown. Not quite as long of a stay as I'd like ... but at least it was a good visit. It was nice spending quality time with a few people once again. Always nice to see those cowtown folks. While I was in Calgary I went to the Saskatoon Berry Farm for my very first time ... it was nice to have 'coffee' there.
We also tried a little photo shoot with the Kroeker's - when it comes to people ... and especially kids you work with what you have. I think the Kroekers would say that it didn't turn out as perfect as they'd like - but in my opinion there were a few good family moments caught on camera. Oh yeah, this all happened on a day that I decided to get sick - fever, chills, you name it. I had committed to doing so I wasn't going to let that stop me. Because I had gotten sick that day it meant I stayed in the house for the day - it was a 'holiday' too and Carole and Darlene had come down for the weekend to visit. So, once again - a trip to Cowtown and I missed out on my very favorite Bubble Tea! Sad times. By the way - the Kroeker family shoot was partly successful due to Darlene's kindness and letting me borrow her lights and gear. I of course didn't pack my lights up and bring stuff my half-way across the country on WestJet.
I ended my stay near the end of November in Edmonton for the weekend where I then flew home from. But of course, I wasn't flying direct I had a stop over in Cowtown! So pa met me at the airport and we had breakfast while I waited for my second leg flight.
Arriving back in K-town meant Christmas Band gigs were underway. So off to the Angel Tree kick off I went.
There were a few Christmas-Band things I've been at this month - just haven't gotten pics of them all. But you get the idea.
Also this month found a few birthdays going by. People getting older. You know. It started with CJ's. So we trekked off to London to join in his 4th Celebrations. Good cake, good times.
Then it was time to start getting the house into the Christmas Spirit. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy Christmas? Well, just in case you miss it ... I
enjoy Christmas.
I decided to get older this month - I figure it's time for my age to start catching up with my hair-color ... I've still got a long ways to go. It was quiet day. Work for me (I'll fill you in on that in a second). Opening gifts while there was a lull ... and then setting up my Wii in the midst of it all. Thanks to my husband who actually picked up on a big hint of mine (and knowing me, giving big hints isn't normally my way of doing things). Guess I really wanted a Wii. So that meant I went bowling at lunch time on my birthday. I also got a fantastic Lensbaby from the folks - but much like this blog - I haven't really had time to figure that out yet. I really must get at that - I'm sure once I get started I'll be hooked though! I won't list off all the fun treats I got but as you can tell from the pic I managed to get of myself I did alright.
No cake, no company, but still good times.
Some time this month - the temporary position I've been filling Monday to Friday. Turned into a full-time job offer. So I'm now officially employeed once again. But I'm working from home and that makes me happy!
Now that we're into December we found ourselves getting dumped on with snow this year. I haven't enjoyed it especially when Scott decides to leave and got a multi-day pairings with work - which leaves me to throw heavy snow around. So I came up with a bright idea this year - to, sooner rather than later, get a snow-blower. So that meant a shopping trip for us. It turned out to be a wee bit tough in finding the one that we wanted in stock etc. But we managed to get one. And as it turns out - it's now a Christmas gift from Scott's father. An early Christmas gift - I know ... going WAY outside my comfort zone - but hey, the snow is WET and HEAVY here! Here you'll see a pic BEFORE the snow blower - what I was left with one day while Scott was away working. And there's also a pic of Scott testing the new toy.
Speaking of getting dumped on with snow. The day set aside for Kai's 3rd Birthday celebrations actually was a storm day. We even got a call from a corps member informing us that church was cancelled for the day. Well, we bundled up and dug our way out of the driveway and set off in the RAV and made our way to London. 2 hours later we were there safe and sound.
Good cake, good times.
Just days after that ma and pa arrived. Scott went to Toronto to pick them up (I'm working now - somebody has to around here). They weren't here for very long when the Wii got turned on. I'm not sure it has had too much time to cool down since they've been here.
Again, good times.
Friday, I managed to drag everyone out to a mall with me. I was signed up to play at the kettle ... so it meant an hour of shopping for everyone else. Ma of
course is still proud of her daughter apparently. That or she was so excited about going to a mall that she thought she'd need her camera there!
Today was Christmas Sunday. And we all bundled up and did a wee little thing that really makes me feel all Christmasy inside. We met with a few other band members (and their families) and went to a fellow band member's house as a surprise visit. We of course brought our instruments played Christmas carols outside. Over the last few months they have been experiencing health concerns within their family. I hope this brought a bit of cheer to them today. Not surprising, but in the end it blessed me.
We had some friends over this evening for supper and Wii time! Again, as usual, we had a good time with them. And I now think we have more people hooked on Wii.
I think that's it for now. I'll try and get back here more often.

I mean wiggles!headin' to see wiggles this afternoon with the 'boys' (and Sue & Greg). It's mine and Scott's birthday gift to the boys - conveniently enough Scott's still in Belfast :-)
Let's go dance Kai!

no pointing fingers
Well, looks like pa wanted to add some excitement to the evening. There's no pic of ma to see what she thought of the whole thing. From the bit of information I have received everyone's 'okay'. Pa's pointer might not be feeling the greatest ... this might be something ma would call a 'warning'. I figure they're resting a wee bit still - so I'll let them do that.
