Here's a bit of background as to why this is 'fresh' in my thinker ...
Not too long ago I read a comment/conversation on good ol' Facebook. It went something like this: Happy Anniversary to my husband of XX years, is that still in style? A response was made to the effect of 'some of us know what love is'.
Hmm ... Before you get all concerned, I'm happy that there are couples out there that are celebrating milestone anniversaries, or looking forward to getting to a milestone some day. Go for it! and yes, be proud of it. I, for one, know it takes hard work to get there ... and I'm pretty sure it's worth it. So if I've ever missed saying it to 'you' ... congrats!! :-)
Here's where my 'grip' comes in ... I bet you were wondering!! Even though I'm now a part of one of those 'stats' and am someone who was in a marriage that didn't last much longer than 5 years, I still know what love is. And yes, I even know what love isn't.
Love can be exciting, joyous, disappointing, invigorating, hard work ... no matter what relationship it comes with (marriage, family, friend, etc).
Now that I've done my rant, I think I'll point you towards a song that 'Mercy Me' has adapted from the lyrics of Frederick M. Lehman. You've probably guessed it ... "The Love of God". And yes, God's love (in my opinion) is greater far ... I'll gladly take it any day!
Here's a 'YouTube' of Mercy Me's "The Love of God" ...
"The Love Of God"
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin
Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky
Hallelujah [3x]
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song
