Winter Assignment - Day 1

Well, here it is ... the promised blog that I would try and keep updated while on my 'Winter Assignment' in Bermuda.

I arrived yesterday evening and was welcomed by the Divisional leaders of the Island who picked me up from the airport and gave me a nice home-cooked meal! Soon after that I was brought to my ‘home’ (Majors Curtis and Cindy Butler) for the rest of this week.

Today I spent the day in ministry with the Butler’s. Doing things that they do in the Somerset area at West End Community Church. A part of my day included sharing in a devotional at LeFroy House (a seniors’ home); getting a brief orientation of the food bank ministry here; counting some kettle money; taking a quick stroll down the beach (which happens to be basically across the street); spending some time ‘manning’ a kettle; spending some time in fellowship with a group of people that meet regularly for Bible Study, at a corps member’s home.

That about sums up my day, as far as the ‘details’ go.

What I will say though is that I love it here. The hospitality is great. The people are super friendly. And I’m looking forward to many more learning experiences ahead … I’m just fearful that the time will go by too quickly!

Now off to listen to some tree frogs ...
